The folder we are going to checkout the plugin from in this example is called “svn”, but yours can be whatever you want.
Step 1: Open Terminal.
Step 2: Enter the following with your folder path and press enter.
NOTE* The example below depends on where you want to checkout your plugin under your home directory. In our case we used Dropbox. Also, The home directory is already implied, so you only need to enter the path to your svn repository.
Step 3: Enter the following with your plugin name and press enter.
svn co http://svn.wp-plugins.org/your-plugin-name-here
NOTE* If you have checked out from this path before, you will see a message appear saying “Checked out revision xxxxxxx”. If you have not already checked out from this path, you will see a list of files appear with “A” before them, this means they have been added to the directory.
Step 4: Enter the following and press enter (this line will bring you to the trunk folder):
Step 5: Navigate to the new folder in the directory you created and make your changes in the trunk folder, save them and move to the next steps.
Step 6: Enter the following and press enter
svn ci -m 'Your commit message here' --username yourusernamehere --password yourpasswordhere
And thats it! Your changes have been added to your plugin. Happy coding 🙂
